"Majority of county voters favor tax hike"

That's a bold statement from a poll of a pathetic 403 people, did they conduct this poll on their lunch break? Also, 55%(of 403 people) favor the hike and the poll claims a 5% margin of error, while technically a majority, it's pretty slim and definitely a misleading headline. Put it to vote at election time and we will find out, oh, they don't want to do that because most of the people in favor of higher taxes, don't pay any and also don't vote.

@Daryl, the point is that Fannie and Freddie are no longer going to market their properties, they are going to be selling their properties, in bulk, to investors, bypassing the agents that list them and the buyer's agents. Also, by doing this they are eliminating the possiblity of anyone other than a multi-million dollar investor being able to purchase a Fannie/Freddie property.

President Obama, Fannie Mae, and Freddie Mac are currently presenting a plan to sell their foreclosures in bulk to investors. This is bad for Las Vegas, it is already extremely difficult for a typical purchaser to buy a home in Las Vegas, cash buyers undercut you at every corner, the average days on market for single family homes is less than 60 days(a traditional market is 90-120 days). Prices are low right now, so are interest rates, this is an incredible opportunity for the average man, unfortunately our government has sold us out to the rich, once again.

Property taxes have decreased significantly due to the decline in property values, therefore, I am okay with a bit of an increase to help even things out, especially since 45% of the homes sold in Vegas are bought by out of state investors, maybe an additional tax for non-owner-occupants?

I too want to see some major cuts, the disgusting pension systems need to be overhauled and the crazy amount of overtime to firefighters needs to end. Salaries for FF, PD, and others also need to be reigned in to a more reasonable level. Remember compared to other major cities, Las Vegas has a low cost of living, so there is no need to pay public employees significantly more than they would make in places such as D.C., NYC, SF, and LA.

This is crap. The average firefighter doubles their salary with overtime, you're telling me that only 17 are being disciplined? Who led the investigation, Chris Giunchiliani?? Guaranteed the one being fired was retiring this year anyways. They all need to be fired, a few bad apples have spoiled the bunch, and start over new with honest firefighters. I mean do we really want thieves as first responders?
