Truthserum-thank you for elevating the status of teachers to the divine, but you still did not answer my questions.

In response to truthserum; oh Lord, I don't even know where to start! What is "phoney royalty"? Please clarify. As far as all of the people you know who are out of work, why are they not applying for openings in the high needs areas (math, science, and special education)? If there are, as you say, "plenty more waiting in line", why are there still openings? There always seems to be a shortage of substitute teachers in the district. Have your unemployed friends applied for these positions? Wouldn't they want the chance to become part of the "royal" family?

As far as your idea that teachers should be sued for malpractice when a student fails a test, let me suggest a similar situation. Patient A visits a doctor, is given a diagnosis, followed by a treatment plan. Patient A is told by the doctor that if the treatment plan is not followed, the patient will not likely survive. Patient A then does not return to the doctor for several days, at which time the patient is asked if the treatment plan is being followed, to which the patient responds that it is not. Doctor repeats that the patient must follow the treatment plan or risk the consequences. Several phone calls are placed to the patient and family stating the importance of following the treatment plan. A conference is held with patient, family, and other members of the treatment team, but to no avail. Unfortunately, Patient A does not follow the treatment plan and, consequently, dies. Malpractice????

That is absolutely dead on. It's not about the teachers. It's about the students. So, let's keep the teachers and get some different students.

I believe the correct word would be "moonlight". "Moonshine" comes in a jug.

BChap,
What exactly did Star express in her comment that seems to have affected you so vehemently? Parents should be invested in their child's education. How do you take offense at that?
