It would be a great addition to the community, and provide incentive for them to finish the current steel skeleton just south of the Red Rock Resort. Both developments would provide more jobs, more tax revenues, and get (at least some) of the value back to the area.

Surely, traveling press secretary Jen Psaki is kidding when she says "that's why [Nevadans] have benefitted so significantly from the president's programs, in terms of investment." Does she know those "investments" still has Nevada over 12% unemployment?

Also, I know first hand this is a joke: "And Saturday the president's radio address was all about housing, and how he thinks we need to make sure that people who are underwater who don't have mortgages backed by the government have the opportunity to refinance and save themselves $3,000".

Several times since March of this year, I have contacted my bank, which was part of the so-called National Mortgage Settlement that "would expand refinancing opportunities or lower interest rates to provide reduced payments for eligible homeowners who are current on their payments but who owe more than the current value of their homes". Each time I have contacted them, not only do I get a run-around, but the final statement is always the "Dept. of Justice is still reviewing cases." Therefore, anyone the expects any refinance assistance from the federal government, be prepared to wait (at least) several months to even get an answer as to whether or not you qualify!

Dear Mr. Ralston - Please lighten up! This was obviously a tongue-in-cheek piece similar to what you would see from CNN Jeanne Moos. Sure, some of the editorial commentary was nonsense, but this was obviously a time filler for the show. Quite frankly, to compare it with what the President said is similar to comparing your columns to some of the gibberish posted on the comment boards of this website. (You should take that as a compliment.)

A report should be done on the PR geniuses behind the Occupy movement. Never have I seen a VERY SMALL group of protesters get so much media coverage. Power to the people, or very slow news days?

Mr. Toplikar,

I would recommend the following correction to this article: "The 41,000-square-foot museum is expected to draw hundreds of thousands of tourists [per year] to the downtown area [after] it opens."

Also, it's not clear in this article as to whether or not this is a non-profit museum. One might assume it is non-profit based on the tax credits and 300 Stewart Ave organization overseeing the museum. However, if it is not, then I think you might have a more interesting article regarding huge tax credits going to a for-profit museum during a time in which the city is in desperate need of tax revenues.
