DHVincent:

"His family raised him horribly and deserve no sympathy whatsoever."

Are you saying that this wouldn't have happened, if his Mommy had hugged him more?

I can't imagine that you have never met an horrible person, who had every opportunity in life, or a person who, despite a rotten life, has somehow managed to become a good person. It's the same thing.

You can't make statements like the above, AND expect that people will take ANY personal responsibility!

Maybe it WASN'T the family who 'screwed up'. Maybe it was a result of the (adult) choice of the man who died. Making that poor choice, could very well have been MORE influenced by substance abuse, mental illness, or even a fight with his girlfriend.

I doubt that a very large percentage of crimes are committed, only AFTER a phone call home to get the blessing of the criminal's family. Why? Because they probably know that they'd hear something like:

"WTF are you thinking? We didn't RAISE YOU LIKE THAT!"

This sort of Doctor, or his outlook, would probably help with many conditions...*IT may have already done so.

Dr. Viner is offering just the sort of therapy that we need.

Mental Health is such an important part of our lives, yet- like breathing- we take it for granted until something goes wrong.

Should I find myself suicidal, I think cliches like "Things will look better in the morning." would actually work...I'd go from suicidal, to homicidal.

We're not here talking about the same boring thing, after all.

I wish Officer Madland a speedy recovery...Both mentally and physically.

I also offer my condolences to the family of the deceased man.

Before anyone yells- remember; no matter how badly someone behaves, there is someone out there who loves them...A parent, sibling, spouse, or even their child.

I believe you religious folks would say 'Hate the sin, but love the Sinner'.

I don't know why the IAP is so worried about this guy- the 'big boys' are willing to let him play.

You notice that the IAP has quietened down their rhetoric a bit?

I guess not EVERYONE wants to be FORCED to own firearms...(Damned civil liberties).
