All the best my friend.

Your conversations and counsel have been more valuable than you will ever know.

Using the example you have provided, I hope one day to have the clarity of purpose and courage to pursue it.

Be well.

Whether you agree or disagree with Senator Reid's politics, what cannot be disputed is how much clout the Silver State now has on a national level.
If you think that is of little value to Nevada, consider the election of Chic Hecht when he beat Howard Cannon back in the 1980s (I think it was 1986, but I am just going from memory) A lot of local politicos would argue Nevada's loss of seniority with Cannon's defeat resulted in the long battle to "cram" nuclear waste down our throats at Yucca Mountain. A battle we appear to have now won with Reid's help (And the election of President Obama).
And for those that are fans of federal term limits, consider where less populous states like Nevada and Hawaii(Where I was born and raised) would be without the power of seniority. The smaller states would be at the mercy of the larger ones, which I don't think was the intent of our founding fathers.
The ultimate term limit is the ballot box. Mandatory term limits that some states have (like Nevada) are a function of how lazy the electorate has become, creating a system that expunges elected officials automatically, the GOOD and bad ones.

Ah, to be 21 again and have the world on a string.
In these days of "constant contact" a disruption can be very unsettling.
There are lessons for everyone to take away from what turned out to be an innocent episode, except for the frayed nerves of a lot of family members.
As I often tell my parents (who are now both in their 70s), "The older I get, the smarter you get."
Let's all hope that our children grow old enough to realize that the lessons we try to impart aren't just the nagging of adults, trying to spoil their fun.

With the "fast food" and "I want it now" culture we now live in, it was almost inevitable that this economic train wreck would happen.

Access to "liar's loans" aka "stated income" loans and the thoughts of annual double-digit home appreciation had everyone thinking they were real estate geniuses, when all it really was was a house of cards. If you got in and out early, you were lucky you made some money. If you were caught when the house began to collapse, you got buried by your own self-delusion that the market would never go bad.

No risk, no reward, right? If that were true in this instance, those that played by the rules and watched all this happen from the sidelines would escape any damage. But that is not true, since we are being asked as "taxpayers" to rescue all those who risked, but did not get rewarded.

"Privatize profits, socialize losses." That's the game being played. Whether they're on Wall Street or Main Street, do you think these folks asking for help now would have shared their "winnings" with us had they profited from their dealings?

Tim, you're right, now is a great time to buy a home. Question is, where does one now get the money? The banks are clutching their funds like its their last nickel. And the only way for them to loosen up is for us to send them more of our money? Go figure.

Oh, but the investors are back, because they can now buy homes at the depressed (or "real" market value, depending on your perspective) values and generate postive cash flow almost immediately by renting it out. Let the cycle begin, again.

Sorry to say its just politics as usual for the GOP..."dont' let the facts get in the way of your opinion" and if you repeat a lie loud enough and long enough it becomes fact.
