Anybody really buy this garbage about a sick mother? Dwight has a brother who lives in Dallas and works (surprise, surprise) as a school administrator in the Dallas School District. So with a brother in the same city as his allegedly ailing mother, Dwight suddenly has to drop everything, including his $350K annual salary to move back to Denver - NOT Dallas - and fly from there to Texas to see his mother?

This makes less than no sense. In fact, the lie is so transparent as to be laughable. Dwight either has another gig lined up, and is bailing on CCSD ahead of accepting that new position, or he's got the inside track on some seriously bad news that might be coming down about something he did or failed to do. I'm guessing somebody has some information about financial shenanigans on Dwight's part that he doesn't want getting out. After all, he has a track record of being loose with public money as far back as his Colorado days.

Either way, good riddance. Take Fulkerson and the rest of your cronies with you.

Hey Jerry,

I love guys like you and the hypocrisy you spew. You have no problem wrapping yourself in the flag and calling yourself a democracy loving "patriot" when it suits you, but boy oh boy that whole loving the democratic process thing goes right out the window when the democratic process takes a dump on your agenda, doesn't it?

God forbid voters do something as "unsavory" as determine how taxes are collected.

Lemme ask you this, Jer, if the voters shouldn't be the ones to set the tax policy for the community/state/country, who should? Fascism is no fun, Jerry.

Sandoval lied? I'm shocked! SHOCKED! Gold miners in the north haul billions in Nevada's riches out of state and its somehow a moral offense to these Republicans to suggest that the miners pay the state for the privilege of ripping holes in our land for gold.

Yet state workers again and again are told to "share the sacrifice". Fine. You want state workers to play at the same level as so called "private sector" workers? Keep the pay cuts. Keep the furloughs.

Just remove the prohibition against state employee unions. After all, "private sector" employees can unionize. And I've heard Republicans time and time again tell state employees how the private sector employee is suffering across Nevada. So level the playing field. You want state employees to bend over and take it in the rear so your mining buddies can keep getting rich? Allow the state employees to have a voice in how your administration treats them, just like private sector employees can.

Why is this guy still getting press? We blew tens of thousands of dollars to bring him here for one year, after he claimed he was "committed" to Dwight's "vision" and now he's jumped ship for a better gig and more cash back where he came from.

He's not some educational hero, he's a freaking opportunist who used CCSD to leverage a better job in Reno.

Not to mention his complete lack of qualification to make informed decisions about pedagogy and curriculum. There is significant conjecture in CCSD circles that the books have been cooked when it comes to the increased graduation rate.

Funny that the Sun would rather do a puff piece for a guy who is bailing out on his job instead of looking into whether administrators pressured school staff to graduate students who weren't "ready by exit."

Good riddance.

At least we won't have to shell out $25K to move the guy.
