* Pop idols the Jonas Brothers were on the Strip last night – but ran for their lives. No, the screaming wasn’t from rabid teenage fans who spotted them! It was because Joe and Nick went through the Screamers haunted house on the bridge outside the New York New York hotel casino, and were scared and shaken up by the bloody chainsaws used at the end of the ‘show’ maze! “They ran for their own lives,” one spywitness told me this morning. “It’s a really scary and horrific haunted house that truly lives up to its name -- and the chainsaw effect is incredibly lifelike and frightening.”
*Socialite and showbiz stunner Paris Hilton has always been loyal to her first friend in Vegas, hotel tycoon George Maloof. Her appearance at the glittering 2001 opening gala at his Rain nightclub at the Palms was the start of a seven-year run of appearances, nightclub hosting and party celebrations in our valley. Paris has always been loyal to her friends and, in a unique toss of her tresses that she always has done at the AMP Salon there, she’s included a tiny shout-out to the Palms in her new video “Paris for President” singing the line sneakily “At the Palms chilling with the martini."
* Legendary movie star and bluesman Dan Aykroyd will host an exclusive "meet and mingle" tasting of his brand new Crystal Head Vodka at Carey Hart’s Wasted Space rock lounge inside the Hard Rock Hotel early this evening. The actor, behind such comedic classics as the Blues Brothers, Ghostbusters and Trading Places, has become a force in the liquor industry: He is the Canadian distributor of Patron Tequila and also owns his own winery. He boasts his newest product, Crystal Head Vodka has no impurities, as it is triple-filtered through Herkimer Diamonds. Dan’s packaging is totally unique and unusual: Each bottle is a handcrafted glass replica of a human skull made in Italy and already they have become a traded Internet collector’s item.
*The new Sushi Samba restaurant at the Palazzo has become a favorite for the "Entourage" cast -- they decided to play bartenders and servers on their last visit here and Luxe Life got the exclusive photos. Now comes word that other fans and foodies can learn the fine art of maki-making and sake tasting at the hotspot. Starting the day after the Election, they'll welcome something completely different: there’s a rare opportunity in a two-hour Sushi+Sake 101 course to become a "master sushi chef” and also learn everything there is to know about sake from Vegas’ only female master sake sommelier, Tiffany Dawn Soto.
*Professional poker player, Daniel Negreanu particularly enjoyed dinner at LAVO in the Palazzo. He’s a confirmed vegetarian and he discovered Chef Ludo Lefebvre’s menu overflowing with goodies from which he picked the Eggplant Parmesan as his main course. At the adjoining table Verdine White of ‘Earth Wind and Fire’ and his group ordered up tomato soup, the eggplant, Seabass, and chocolate bread pudding while nearby NFL star Junior Seau, his wife and friends enjoyed the bruschetta, Kobe sliders, lamb quesadillas, and beef kabobs.
*For the seventh year, Andre’s downtown restaurant will host the annual popular Jean-Louis Palladin Foundation dinner and auction this coming Sunday – and I’ll handle the auction chores for my late chef friend who had his top-ranked restaurant here at the Rio before his untimely death from cancer. André Rochat is opening his landmark restaurant again and has won an incredible lineup of star chefs for the remarkable dinner. It's become one of the most exciting and anticipated culinary events on the calendar. Last year we raised $40,000 for scholarship programs of up and coming cooks admiring and studying Jean-Louis's work.

*Brunette bombshell and Playboy’s 2008 Model of the Year, Jillian Beyor, took in the new sensational music and dance show Raw Talent Live at the Sahara as part of her 23rd birthday celebrations on the Strip. She insisted on meeting the sexy dancers afterward to tell them how much she enjoyed their work. Joining Jillian was Cuban-American actor Rene Lavan, who was a regular on the CSI Miami and Las Vegas TV shows.
* The month-long poker tournament at the Bellagio, Festa al Lago VI, ended when Frenchman Bertrand “Elky” Grospellier defeated former World Poker Tour champion Nam Le to win his first WPT title. Grospellier earned the $1,411,015 first-place prize in addition to a seat in the April 2009 WPT World Championship at Bellagio. The annual event featured 17 no limit hold ‘em tournaments held in the Bellagio poker room and the Fontana Lounge and entry fees ranged from $500-$5,000 with the WPT main event requiring an entry fee of $15,000. A Bellagio gold bracelet was awarded to the winners of all 17 events. “It feels great to win a WPT event at Bellagio,” said Grospellier, who was raised in Paris, France, and now lives in London. “I felt confident throughout the tournament but once I took over the chip lead (a couple of days ago) I knew I needed to adapt to each hand and play smarter. I was making the right moves and once I opened a large lead, the other players were never really able to fight back. I definitely will return to Bellagio in December to play the Five Diamond event.” Grospellier defeated 367 other competitors on his way to earning the second largest payday in his young career. Earlier this year he won a European Poker Tour title for more than $2 million. Le, who was able to fight off defeat numerous times throughout the final table action, earned $943,215 for second place. California residents Oddie Dardon and Nenad Medic finished third and fourth and took home $506,245 and $373,010, respectively. Adam Levy, hailing from Orlando, Fla., cashed $266,445 for fifth while Jeff King of Littleton, Colo., won $186,510 for his sixth place finish.
*The Liberace Museum has “come back to life” thanks to Jersey Boys cast member Philip Fortenberry at the Palazzo resort casino. Three times a week Philip sits down at Liberace’s actual 9-foot concert grand Baldwin for a 45-minute performance that is eerily reminiscent of "Mr. Showmanship’s" extraordinary piano skills. He kicks off with Liberace’s signature arrangement of "Chopsticks" and winds up closing with a nostalgic rendition of Liberace’s famous “I’ll be Seeing You.” In between there’s some familiar Broadway music; some of his own original composition, some classics and the music is woven around his journey from pianist in rural Mississippi to Broadway and command performances for royals and other dignitaries. He said: “I’m an enthusiastic supporter of Liberace and his legacy. His unique artistry influenced my journey as a musician. This is a way of giving back to both encourage and promote aspiring artists everywhere.”
