Madame Tussauds is celebrating Chinese New Year by adding a life-size replica of action hero Jackie Chan. Officials also are celebrating the Year of the Rabbit, which officially begins Thursday, by dressing superstars Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt in traditional Chinese outfits.
They will be on display at The Venetian through Feb. 22, while other casino resorts on The Strip, including the Palazzo, the Bellagio, the Wynn and Aria, also are celebrating with festive and decorative displays.
*Hair guru to the stars Michael Boychuck has added two beauty experts extraordinaire to his Caesars Palace salon Color. Kate Stromberg and Lavetta Fajardo, formerly with Kim Vo at The Mirage, have joined his glam squad as director of cosmetics and educational director, respectively.
*The war between male and female deejays is about to heat up as sexy newcomers Mika Gold and Soxxi take over the wheels of steel at Tacos & Tequila at the Luxor. Mika is a former breakdancer turned DJ.
*Cocktail waitress Lynette Lobato, 27, and model beauty Melissa Richardson, 31, were named Miss Playboy Club model search winners for January and February, respectively, at the Palms over the weekend. Joey Fatone, in town to host the live The Price Is Right at Bally’s, was in the crowd cheering on the contestants.
*Congrats to the Las Vegas-based restaurant team at Munch Group on opening their new Munchbar in Bellevue, Wash., today to match the flagship at Caesars Palace. Extra host Mario Lopez, UFC champion Frank Mir and NFL running back star Larry Johnson are the first three celebrities to throw parties at the new venues.
It will be a fantastic final week for Cher at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace, and actor Laurence Fishburne has begun the celebrity parade. Larry took his family backstage afterward to meet the legendary diva. More than 5,000 women celebrated the 10th anniversary Las Vegas Women’s Fair featuring Dancing With the Stars pros Tony Dovolani and Las Vegas’ Chelsie Hightower, plus All My Children star Jordi Vilasuso. Contributing photographer Scott Harrison was on duty at the convention. Rocker Vince Neil checked out the new Savile Row at LAX at the Luxor, where photographer Jerry Metellus was the featured guest at a party auctioning his extraordinary art photos to raise funds for the battered women’s shelter Shade Tree. Redfoo of LMFAO dined at Lavo at the Palazzo with his Party Rock crew and Anthony Mackie before heading upstairs to party in the boutique nightclub.
James Carville and Jeb Bush square off at UNLV Concert Hall, with colleague Jon Ralston as the moderator. Redfoo kicks off his new DJ residency at Marquee at The Cosmopolitan. Greg London begins his new residency in Shimmer Theater at the Las Vegas Hilton. Big Boi celebrates his birthday at Jet at The Mirage. And world champion pianist Ryan Ahern begins his new resident show at V Theater in Planet Hollywood’s Miracle Mile Shops.
