Editor’s Note: One of today’s guest columnists is Flamingo headliner comedian Vinnie Favorito while Robin Leach takes his well-deserved annual vacation to Europe (follow him on his travels at twitter.com/robin_leach). Every day, a new column, plus you never know what Robin will dig up in the wine country north of Rome, so please check back daily.

Completely f*&%#!’ crazy is my tagline, I’m told, so I was shocked when I was asked to guest write Robin Leach’s column while he is on vacation. If you don’t know me, I have been headlining shows on the Las Vegas Strip and making audiences laugh in my 20-year career. I was the first-ever headliner at Binion’s Gambling Hall, formerly known as Binion’s Horseshoe, and was a regular stand-up comic at The Improv at Harrah’s Las Vegas.
Currently, I am considered one of the hardest-working guys in Las Vegas, as I perform nightly with no dark days and must come up with cutting-edge comedic material on the spot for every show. I can be found at Bugsy’s Cabaret, located right in the heart of the Las Vegas Strip at the Flamingo, performing nightly at 8. Yep, I work every night at 8. I’m also lucky enough to work in the same room as the beautiful X Burlesque Girls.
The Boston Herald voted me one of Boston’s Top 10 Comedians, and I was crowned winner of the renowned San Francisco International Comedy Competition. Other top comedians who’ve won the San Francisco International Comedy Competition include Dana Carvey, Dane Cook, Ellen DeGeneres, Robin Williams, Marsha Warfield and Sinbad.
I reside in Las Vegas with my wife Nicole and my son Nico, but enough about me! Mac King is my really good friend and hands down the best magician in the business. I highly suggest watching his comedy magic show at Harrah’s Las Vegas. I thought that I worked a lot, but Mac has performances at 1 and 3 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays. Mac is great for kids, and adults end up having just as much fun.
Mac has consistently won awards for best magician and best daytime show. Mac recently appeared on The Late Show With David Letterman doing his unbelievable fish trick and was just awarded a Top 10 must-see when visiting Las Vegas. Congratulations, Mac, on everything!
One problem about working seven nights a week is that I don’t get the chance to see other shows on The Strip. My producer Bill Voelkner, who is the best, by the way, recently saw Absinthe at Caesars Palace. He hasn’t stopped raving about this show since he saw it. Bill definitely has a good eye, considering he took me off the road eight years ago, and we haven’t looked back since.
Bill also produces Mac King, so I’ll take his advice on Absinthe and tell readers to check it out. Good luck with the show, and keep up the good work. Mr. Leach, thank you very much for letting me guest write your blog. So to all your readers: Champagne wishes and caviar dreams. Wait, am I allowed to say that?
Tomorrow, VegasDeLuxe.com welcomes Tony Award winner Anthony Crivello, The Phantom in Phantom -- the Las Vegas Spectacular at the Venetian; Anita Mann, producer of Fantasy at the Luxor; and music legend Engelbert Humperdinck. Guest columnists this year include Holly Madison, Donny Osmond, cast members of Absinthe and Jersey Boys, Chefs Julian Serrano and Charlie Palmer, plus other surprises, including nightlife analysis by Jesse Waits and Jack Colton.
Robin Leach has been a journalist for more than 50 years and has spent the past decade giving readers the inside scoop on Las Vegas, the world’s premier platinum playground.
