Editor’s Note: One of today’s guest columnists is Imperial Palace headliners Human Nature while Robin Leach takes his well-deserved annual vacation to Europe (follow him on his travels at Every day, a new column, plus you never know what Robin will dig up in the wine country north of Rome, so please check back daily.

On behalf of Human Nature, we want to thank Robin for this opportunity to share some of our thoughts and to extend our thanks to Harrah’s and everyone who has supported and helped us during this past year. As Aussie blokes who now call Las Vegas home, we want to thank everyone for making us feel so welcome.

Living and performing in Las Vegas, The Entertainment Capital of the World, is a dream come true for all of us. Having recently completed the 500th show of Smokey Robinson Presents Australia’s Human Nature -- The Ultimate Celebration of the Motown Sound, is an unbelievable thrill.

It seems like only yesterday that we opened at the Imperial Palace. It is with such a sense of pride that we (Human Nature composed of myself, my brother Michael and life-long friends Toby Allen and Phil Burton) have accomplished this in such a famous town known for having the top entertainment anywhere.

As if that isn’t exciting enough, we just completed filming our first PBS special, which is set to air in the fall. Produced by the renowned Ken Ehrlich, the show includes an appearance by our friend, the legendary Smokey Robinson.

The special provides us with a chance to share our high-energy show, which we perform six nights a week at the I.P., to an even broader audience. The music just makes people get up on their feet and dance, and we hope people at home will do just what people in our theater do: Dance, sing along and have fun.

It’s wonderful to see and feel the enthusiasm from everyone who has seen and heard us. That’s so important. We really need to thank our legions of local fans who have embraced our show, and many of them return time and again, which we love.

They have made us the go-to show in Las Vegas when they have friends and family visiting Las Vegas. When we do the meet-and-greet after the show, our fans tell us that they feel like they discovered Human Nature and get to share their find with others. We are delighted!

Because of this interest, we recently added a little more of “us” into the show, along with the music, which we stand by and love. As Las Vegans have adopted us, we have adopted Las Vegas as our home. It is very different from Sydney, where our families are from, but now we also refer to ourselves as locals.

Last year, we were so honored to have Las Vegas Mayor Oscar Goodman proclaim May 12, 2010, “Human Nature Day” and for receiving the Best Singers award in the Best of Las Vegas reader’s poll.

We also wish to thank Adam Steck, the producer of our show and CEO of SPI Entertainment, who saw our potential and gave us a shot here on The Strip. While these past two years in Las Vegas have been wonderful, the four of us are excited about looking ahead to great opportunities in the future.

Tomorrow, welcomes longtime Las Vegas plastic surgeon Dr. Jeffrey Roth. Guest columnists this year include Holly Madison, Donny Osmond, cast members of Absinthe and Jersey Boys, Chefs Julian Serrano and Charlie Palmer, plus other surprises, including nightlife analysis by Jesse Waits and Jack Colton.

Robin Leach has been a journalist for more than 50 years and has spent the past decade giving readers the inside scoop on Las Vegas, the world’s premier platinum playground.
