Nightlife queen Allison Melnick returns to Las Vegas this weekend to celebrate her birthday, and best gal pals Paris Hilton, Nicky Hilton and Jennifer Rovero will be along for the fun. Allison lived here when she filmed the reality TV show The Club and hosted Beacher’s Madhouse with Jeff Beacher.
“I love Vegas!” she told me. “Every year, I come to Vegas to celebrate my birthday with Jason Strauss and Noah Tepperberg -- they’re my best friends, so they throw me the biggest party every year. I’m so proud of them with everything they’ve accomplished with their clubs and restaurants. Explosive! I mean, they are multi-millionaires! I love them … I wouldn’t celebrate my birthday anywhere else. This year’s my 40th, so it’s going to be a big one.”
Jason and Noah are the nightlife kingpins behind Tao, Lavo and the new Marquee at the Cosmopolitan. A New York resident for 31 years, Allison’s been in the nightclub business for 16 of them starting out as a door girl. “We all started doing high school parties together,” she said. She ran her restaurant, lounge and club Apple, and is now plotting a new one for L.A.
Allison said: “I love Vegas … I like to gamble, I love the shopping, I love the nightlife, I just love to get away for a couple of days … and have fun. … I’d happily come there a couple days a week and then one night on the weekends to work. There’s much more money to be made in nightclubs in Vegas and New York than L.A.”
Allison, happily single and hosting three parties a week, is featured on Paris’ new reality TV series The World According to Paris. “We’ve been best friends for 17 years, I’m her longest/oldest best friend,” she said. “We met in New York when I was a club door girl. We realized we lived a couple of blocks away from each other on the Upper East Side, and we started hanging out all the time. I call myself ‘The Jewish Hilton.’ Her parents Rick and Kathy are like a second set of parents to me. They really are my family, so filming the series was just so easy because it was our everyday lives. It’s so much fun shooting with the girls.”
Their Las Vegas episode airs next Wednesday: “We went skydiving, I got a tattoo, and then I had a huge blowout with Paris’ assistant. I took one for the team that night at Serendipity, where you had dinner with us. All I can say is there’s plenty of screaming, lots of drama and quite a fight. Vegas is our favorite episode! One day I’d love to host a TV show, too, and I used to do that on the side, as well. In the next couple years, I’d like to open another restaurant and lounge.”
