Roy Horn's 67th birthday celebration at the Mirage on Oct. 2, 2011.

Roy Horn, one of magic’s most legendary and beloved performers, celebrated his 67th birthday during a private event at Siegfried & Roy’s Secret Garden and Dolphin Habitat at the Mirage on Sunday. Family, friends and colleagues gathered for the celebration that begin at the dolphin pool at sunset with a toast to Horn by Mirage President and COO Felix Rappaport, followed by Horn’s longtime magic partner Siegfried Fischbacher.

The festivities ended with a screening of Siegfried & Roy: The Magic Box in Real 3-D at the Terry Fator Theater. Tom Donoghue shot this photo gallery for Vegas DeLuxe and also served as reporter (thanks also to Scott Harrison for his photographs):

“First there was a birthday reception at the Secret Garden of Siegfried & Roy. Mirage President Felix Rappaport introduced the birthday boy with is forever partner Siegfried. The VIP crowd was greeted at the dolphin pool.

“It was then off to the Terry Fator Theater in the Mirage for a Mirage first. The VIPs were treated to a viewing of the 1999 3-D movie The Magic Box. It was spectacular, and the clapping and roar from the group was so heartwarming. There on the screen in 3-D was Siegfried & Roy, their life story.

“I positioned myself off to the side of Siegfried & Roy, the movie ended, the audience was in an uproar, and I could see and feel the tears of Siegfried & Roy and those closest to them, the energy they portrayed, the emotion. It was then up onstage where Rappaport toasted the two and a tiger birthday cake was rolled out for Horn to blow out the candles.

“Then, backstage, Horn was presented with a huge birthday card signed by Mirage employees. As Roy was leaving, I thanked him for sharing his life tonight on film and in person. He stopped and whispered to me, ‘Life is one 8x10 after another.’ ”

Happiest birthday wishes to Horn -- and to many more!
