Legendary magicians Siegfried & Roy were the first celebrity guests for this year’s Oktoberfest kickoff at Hofbrauhaus last night. The beer, food and entertainment hall was packed for Roy Horn’s triumphant entrance, and he was cheered loudly all the way to the huge beer keg.
Siegfried Fischbacher and he took on the official duty of tapping the first beers for the start of the traditional monthlong-plus festival. Thanks to Scott Harrison for his Vegas DeLuxe gallery of celebration shots.
Next Saturday, the gorgeous girls from Fantasy at the Luxor will be the celebrity tappers, followed by the cast of Pawn Stars. Holly Madison and her Peepshow and Holly’s World castmates, Luxor headliner comic Carrot Top, Excalibur headliners Thunder from Down Under and even yours truly will do keg-tapping duties every Saturday through the end of October that marks the end of Oktoberfest.
The celebration coincides with the 18-day festival held annually in Munich and Bavaria in Germany since 1810 and which now attracts more than 5 million as the world’s largest fair drinking more than 7 million liters of brew. As in Germany, Hofbrauhaus serves sausages (wurst), roast pork (Schweinebraten) potato pancakes (Reiberdatschi) and sauerkraut (Blaukraut).
Come join the festivities. Prost! Zum Wohl!
