Dancing With the Stars
The Rat Pack Show
Unabashed Disney fan Holly Madison departed this morning to the twin theme parks of Disneyland in Tokyo for part of a well-earned week’s vacation from her hit Peepshow at Planet Hollywood and before Season 3 of Holly’s World begins filming here.
Holly, who is traveling with her Holly’s World co-star Laura Croft and friend Shelby Lynn, will hit the beaches of Hawaii on her whirlwind round trip before resuming Peepshow next Monday.
Tonight, Holly’s World co-star Angel Porrino takes over the role of Bo Peep in Peepshow on her break from Absinthe at Caesars Palace. Angel returns to the erotic circus next week when Holly returns home.
*Season 12 of Dancing With the Stars kicks off tonight with a 2-hour premiere, and although we won’t be reporting weekly as in past seasons, we’ll keep an eye on the progress of Las Vegas regular Rob Kardashian Jr. partnered with Cheryl Burke, plus Chaz Bono partnered with Lacey Schwimmer. Chaz’s mother, former Caesars Palace headliner Cher, will certainly be rooting for them.
This season, former Vegas Academy graduate and pro dancer Derek Hough returns to partner with Ricki Lake.
*The Phantom of the Opera producers will mark its 25th anniversary with a live worldwide movie-theater showing of a special performance from London’s Royal Albert Hall on Oct. 2. Our original Las Vegas star Sierra Boggess is reuniting with Ramin Karimloo for the presentation.
Sierra left Las Vegas for Broadway and London and then headlined the Phantom sequel Love Never Dies with Ramin. More than 200 original and current cast members will be onstage for the satellite transmission to Britain, other European countries, America, Japan and Australia. Phantom, which is still showing here, New York, London, Japan and Budapest, has grossed more than $5.6 billion since the first show.
*Comedy king Brad Garrett says his Maximum Hope Foundation celebrity poker fundraiser was such a success at the Tropicana on Saturday that he’s already planning an all-star return for next year. The smile-and-laugh-a-minute tourney was won by local real estate king George Chambi, poker pro Jamie Gold placed second, and retired baseball player Jose Canseco placed third, with every player donating their winnings back to Brad’s charity.
Brad is headlining at his comedy club in the Tropicana through tomorrow night. Thanks to Tom Donoghue for his photo gallery, as well as to Glenn Pinkerton of Las Vegas News Bureau for his photos posted yesterday.
*It’s a nice homecoming for guitar god Carlos Santana at the end of his global tour, as he returns to his former residency stomping grounds, The Joint at the Hard Rock Hotel, for three shows Nov. 11-13. Tickets go on sale Saturday -- and also for Paul Simon, who goes back on a rare tour with a Las Vegas stop at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace on Oct. 24. Paul is promoting his first album in five years, So Beautiful or So What.
