Gossip mills are abuzz over reports on both sides of the Atlantic that former Caesars Palace headliner and superstar Cher is planning to marry again — this time in Las Vegas, as early as this fall! I find it hard to believe, but reportedly the 66-year-old singer has renewed her lovematch with mountain climber and Hells Angel Tim Medvetz, 24 years her junior.
When Cher was performing at Caesars, Medvetz was on her arm, and there were rumors of a Las Vegas marriage back then. But the stronger their romance grew, the busier she became with concerts, and their dating spree came to a crashing halt.
Now, though, reports say it's back on thanks to her children Chaz and Elijah Blue urging her to resume the romance. It's led to speculation that before she resumes her final goodbye tour, she will tie the knot in a Vegas wedding chapel after the duo motorcycle across America.
Cher has been married twice before: Her 1963 marriage to Sonny Bono ended in a 1975 divorce, and her two-year marriage to musician Gregg Allman ended in 1977.
POP ENGAGEMENT: Nickelback frontman Chad Kroeger, who has cut a large swath through our nightclub scene with various Las Vegas beauties and models, is off the market. After six months of dating pop singer Avril Lavigne, the couple have confirmed their engagement. At 37 years old, Kroeger is 10 years older than the pink-haired pop princess. She was in Las Vegas on Tuesday flashing a 14-carat diamond ring while attending the MAGIC fashion convention. Lavigne was previously married to Deryck Whibley of Sum 41 and dated "The Hills" star Brody Jenner.
ELOPING! Congratulations to Mike Tyson show producer Adam Steck, who also produces Human Nature at Imperial Palace and Thunder From Down Under at Excalibur, over the news that he’ll marry longtime gal pal beauty Bri Ulivarri on a runaway elopement to a Caribbean island on Oct. 20!
SURVIVOR ON FREMONT STREET: Our thanks to contributing photographer David Tingey of Donoghue Photography for his photo gallery from Survivor's free concert at Fremont Street Experience over the weekend. The band is known for their hits "Eye of the Tiger" and "The Search Is Over."
NEW 'FANTASY' DANCERS: Our earlier Vegas DeLuxe story of magician Murray Sawchuck’s new bride, Chloe, joining "Fantasy" at the Luxor was confirmed today by producer Anita Mann. She also revealed a second dancer, Ashton, has been added to the lineup of tantalizing teasers, along with two new sexy dance numbers.
Ashton, a statuesque knockout, and Chloe, an English stunner, just made their debut in the show. “They join the gorgeous and multitalented cast at an exciting time in our 12-year history on the Strip," said Anita. “It’s a dream come true for me,” said Ashton, an honors graduate from Oklahoma City University with a bachelor's degree in performing arts. Chloe, who has danced since she was 5 years old, married Sawchuck, Tropicana’s resident magician, last month. Both beauties will be seen with the entire cast in the Fantasy 2013 pinup calendar being released next month.
'BAR' BACK: Nightlife consultant Jon Taffer, who hosts the Nightclub and Bar Awards and convention every year here, won Spike TV's green light for a third season of his series "Bar Rescue." He’ll star in 20 episodes pulling no punches as he takes failing bars and turns them around into vibrant and profitable success stories. John, well-known in the Strip nightlife scene, has nearly 30 years of experience in the field.
'AS SEEN ON TV' SET THROUGH 2018: Next month's InfoComm, an annual convention organized by the trade association representing infomercials and their producers, writers, stars and production companies, will continue its every-other-year Las Vegas meetings through 2018. InfoComm alternates Las Vegas with Orlando.
Lavigne was one of the celebrities at the second day of the MAGIC fashion convention. Also spotted by contributing photographer Scott Harrison: reality TV stars Audrina Patridge and Adrienne Maloof, "Oz" star Chuck Zito with Juliette Marie and our local motorbike hero and tattoo titan Carey Hart. Adrienne, from "The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills," was at the official Project afterparty at Marquee in the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, where she danced to the music of DJs Vice, Flosstradamus, Eric D-Lux, Chris Kennedy and Fred Matters. While in town, Adrienne also dined at nearby Holsteins with her brother Palms honcho George Maloof and two friends.
Upcoming Venetian headliner Tim McGraw tried hard to keep the filming of his new video “Truck Yeah” under wraps in Chattanooga, Tenn., but his extra-long tour bus and dozens of trucks gave away the secret shoot, according to one of my spywitnesses there. Filming took place at the rusty foundry U.S. Pipe, with many local residents and their trucks signed on as extras.
Magician David Copperfield was dragged onstage with Rick Ross and the Real Swizz Beatz when they wove the illusionist into their newest video, now No. 1 on the Billboard charts. “I’m working on my street cred,” said David. Check out the “vanishing” video.
Jackson family patriarch Joe Jackson was seen at "Vegas! the Show" on Tuesday night in Saxe Theater at Planet Hollywood’s Miracle Mile meeting with the show's tap-dancing twins Sean & John Scott.
Banjo-playing movie star and comedian Steve Martin returns to the Smith Center for the Performing Arts to perform with the Steep Canyon Rangers. Drag queen Frank Marino and his fellow cast members at "Divas Las Vegas" in Imperial Palace are the special guest judges on the TLC's "Toddlers & Tiaras”. The fifth annual Las Vegas at Work photo contest is unveiled at Springs Preserve.
Comedy magician Mike Hammer has a free show at Four Queens as the hotel makes a big-money donation to the American Heart Association’s “Rediscover Downtown Heart Walk” set for Oct. 13 to kick off a downtown renaissance. On Thursday, Madame Tussaud's at the Venetian will unveil a wax figure of George Lopez in honor of National Hispanic Heritage Month.
