Robin Leach is on vacation in Italy, but he is still keeping tabs on Las Vegas. He reports strong rumors that Carson Kressley, now appearing in “Dancing With the Stars: Live in Las Vegas” at the Tropicana, will be part of the ABC juggernaut’s all-star-reunion Season 15 premiere in September.
Also onboard, Joey Lawrence, who recently bared his biceps with Chippendales at the Rio as a guest host and singer. And Maria Menounos, who fought bravely against injuries and narrowly missed winning the mirrored disco ball last season partnered with Derek Hough, could be given a second shot, but probably with a different partner.
The “DWTS” rumor mill is at full force, and sorting out fact from fiction is nearly impossible, but if you go by their personal twitter accounts, it looks as if they are favorites -- at this moment -- to return.
SOLVING MYSTERIES: The all-new live show “MythBusters: Behind the Myths” starring Jamie Hyneman and Adam Savage, co-hosts of the hit Discovery Channel series “MythBusters,” debuts at the Palazzo for six performances Aug. 17-19 and Aug. 31 to Sept. 2. Tickets are now on sale at Palazzo.com.
“MythBusters: Behind the Myths” is an evening of onstage experiments, audience interaction, videos and behind-the-scenes stories, with fans joining the duo in their mind-blowing approach to science. The show hit 28 U.S. cities last winter and spring.
OLYMPIC FEVER: The 2012 London Summer Olympics are just around the corner, and Olympic fever is spreading in Las Vegas, too. On Tuesday night, Team USA Basketball players, coaches and legends were honored during a private ceremony at Tiffany & Co. in the Forum Shops at Caesars Palace, and David Becker of Getty Images was onsite for photos.
The evening’s roster: Kevin Love, Tyson Chandler, Andre Iguodala, Jerry Colangelo, Mike Krzyzewski, Tom O’Rourke, Bill Russell, Mike D’Antoni, Jim Boeheim, Nate McMillan, Scottie Pippen, Dominique Wilkins, Gary Payton, Jerome Williams, Lenny Wilkens, Chris Mullin and Spencer Haywood. Thanks to Richard Corey for posting his videos on YouTube of Team USA meeting their fans at a separate event.
Also on Tuesday, the USA Women’s Olympic Water Polo Team visited Cirque du Soleil’s “O” at the Bellagio. The team, set to depart July 22 for London, enjoyed a friendly water polo match with “O” cast members. Aspiring water polo players ages 6 to 18 from Team Vegas also were in the audience to watch the match and meet with artists and the team.
The day ended with special effects from “O,” including a rainstorm shower. Thanks to Bryan Steffy of Getty Images for his photo gallery.
CHOCOLAT AT THE PALMS: Chocolat Bistro, a fusion of traditional European gelaterias, creperies and cremeries with crepes, chocolates, gelatos and others desserts, is set to open at the Palms this fall. In the former space of Hart & Huntington Tattoo Co., Chocolat is part of the $50 million first phase of the Palms’ transformation. It’s first U.S. location opened in the Gaslamp District in San Diego in 2008.
“Chocolat Bistro fits exactly what we are creating at the Palms,” said Joe Magliarditi, president of the Palms, in a news release. “It’s stylish, on trend and absolutely delicious. It will be a bold complement to our newly designed casino floor and the perfect treat for our guests.”
Nine-time Pro Bowl quarterback Warren Moon partied with friends in a second-story bungalow in a night led by DJ Norman Doray at Surrender in Steve Wynn’s Encore on Wednesday night.
Also at Surrender: “American Idol” Season 5 winner and Bally’s headliner Taylor Hicks partying with friends in a cabana and Brooklyn Nets and Team USA star Deron Williams, who just signed a
$98 million deal with the NBC team, in a cabana with eight friends drinking only water. Thanks to Bryan Schnitzer for his photos.
And Riviera headliner magician Jan Rouven and Dr. Gadget (“Extra,” “The View”) watched Murray Sawchuck’s show at the Tropicana.
