The Mob Attraction, formerly the Las Vegas Mob Experience, has reopened at the Tropicana with enhancements for the interactive portion of the experience. Celebrity gangster guides including James Caan and Mickey Rourke come to life as 3D holograms to help visitors wind their way through the immersive journey through the world of organized crime.

It began at 2 a.m. today and continued for hours as more than 100 cement trucks in a nonstop fleet filled the foundation opposite Mandalay Bay for the 500-foot SkyVue observation wheel. The big pour is for the largest observation wheel in the Western Hemisphere.

When it opens July 4, 2013, it will feature 32 gondolas each holding 24 people to gaze above the Strip and the surrounding desert. Leila Navidi of the Las Vegas Sun and contributing photographer Tom Donoghue were there on the dawn patrol for our photo galleries.

It’s the start of National VIP Month at the Monte Carlo, where guests will receive surprise opportunities to live like Las Vegas VIPs. Staff will hand out random keys for upgrades, retail and restaurant discounts, comps and Jabbawockeez show tickets. The lucky 10,000th guest this month will receive an ultimate VIP experience.
