For years, eccentric Strip headliner magician the Amazing Johnathan has invited just a few select friends to tour the mind-blowing haunted horror house he creates at his secret warehouse, but this Halloween, he’s opened it to the public for the first time and turned it into a 35,000-square-foot spectacle.
“I have always enjoyed designing and creating my annual haunt for friends and family. This year, I am ready to share the Amazing Johnathan’s SCREAMont Experiment with the public and allow them to experience the warped, wicked theatrics that others have enjoyed for years,” he told Vegas DeLuxe.
It’s been constructed as a multi-level maze with eight themed rooms packed with his mind-bending magic, terrifying twists and turns and optical illusions. A.J., with his new residency at Bally’s, described the gut-wrenching experience:
“Visitors enter and are greeted by a ghostly bellman who tours them through the quarantined hotel, which has been taken over by previous guests who’ve gone mad during their own horrific stay.
“The first stop is a check-in desk where a couple welcomes guests to the hotel. After leaving check-in, it is up to guests to find their way to their hotel room without getting wet, as a mysterious disease that has infected previous guests is transmitted through water.
“They must carefully navigate -- and I stress carefully -- a dark maze while being chased by angry, rabid dogs. Don’t panic or get anxious. Stop the dreaded tightening of your heart, and quell your throat. You must find the elevator and survive a room filled with smoke, a spinning vortex and a control room that has been infested with insects, among other deadly horrors.
“Once in the elevator, guests are relocated to the second story of the SCREAMont Experiment. They’ll find other guests attempting to break out of their rooms in a fit of rage. There’s also a hotel room that has been turned into an operating suite and a hallway filled with body bags.
“If guests are able to maneuver through the various hotel rooms filled with optical illusions and special effects, they just may be able to make it out alive.”
I’ve regularly gone to A.J.’s secret warehouse in the past for his always different, unique Halloween horror shows. He does it better than anybody, spending nearly three months constructing the spooky stuff.
It’s so authentically revolting that you sink into it gasping for air as the brain says it’s real and not theatrics! The fright, fear, foreboding and fun start tonight on Fremont Street downtown at the Las Vegas Club hotel casino.
Expect to see his celebrity pals there for the premiere: Harrah’s comedy magician Mac King, comedy hypnotist Marc Savard, entertainers J.T. Mollner and the Freakling Brothers, magician Murray Sawchuck, BMX rider and reality TV star Ricardo Laguna, the sexy girls of “Fantasy” and the handsome hunks of Thunder From Down Under.
With the horrific thunder and lightning crashing over Las Vegas the past 24 hours, it’s the perfect night to add terror to the real-life fears about the end of the world is nigh!
