Two new multimillion-dollar Las Vegas nightclubs will celebrate their grand openings in direct competition with each other. Cirque du Soleil’s new entertainment venue Light at Mandalay Bay and the splashy, five-story restaurant and nightclub Hakkasan at MGM Grandhave selected April 26-27 for The Clash of the Gala Openings.

However, as I reported Tuesday, Hakkasan will have a preview opening April 18 and roll into the weekend. Light will have a preview with DJ Zedd on April 24. On Tuesday, we posted the DJ Tiesto video about Hakkasan, and today we have Light’s DJ videos.

The Light Group’s new outdoor day party at the sprawling Daylight complex at Mandalay Bay opens in May for Memorial Day Weekend.

Executives at The Act in the Palazzo say there’s no truth behind rumors that there have been discussions about closing. “Exactly the opposite,” one of them told me. “We’ve expanded our Saturday night shows to now run to 8 a.m. Sunday as an after-hours experience. We’re still open Wednesday and Friday each week and discussing a third night addition.

“The changes have people starting rumors we must be having problems, but, in fact, the changes are for the better, and more and more people are loving The Act.”

The rumors began when MC Raven’s contract expired last month, and he returned to the sister club The Box in New York. I was told: “We didn’t feel the need for a permanent MC as the shows are now far more away from the stage and into the audience at various places around the club.”

“The new Alice in Wonderland shows with The White Rabbit were unbelievably packed and solidly successful. They run from 3 to 8 a.m. Sundays. Nobody wants to leave!”

SILENT MOVIE: I have advance word of the challenge our The Rio headliner magician Penn Jillette will face on Sunday’s episode of Donald Trump’s “All-Star Celebrity Apprentice” on NBC. The Donald orders the celebrities to create a “silent movie” to promote Australian Gold products.

There’s extraordinary drama when one project manager gets cast aside mid-show as a power-usurping teammate takes over, and the rival project manager risks everything by going against the advice of teammates. Plus,

Gary Busey is literally caught with his pants down!

TV PROMO: This weekend marks the end of the first run of singer CeeLo Green’s “Loberace” at Planet Hollywood, but we’ll still find him on television throughout the spring and summer before his planned November return. CeeLo has filmed a new TV commercial for his sake TyKu, and you just have to love him, the beautiful girls and smooth-as-silk background music.

Caesars Palace superstar headliner Shania Twain watched Blue Man Group for the first time this week at the Monte Carlo. She went backstage afterward for a private meet-and-greet.

“Peepshow” at Planet Hollywood star Coco Austin has purchased a new $100,000+ hybrid electric sports car. The reality TV star is now the owner of a custom-made Fisker Karma with an all-black interior paired with white rims for the all-white exterior body. The plug-in car was shipped to Towbin Automotive here from Finland for Coco.

“I’m in love with it,” Coco said. “[Husband] Ice[-T] will want to drive it all the time, too.”

The EPA gives the vehicle high marks for its combined city/highway fuel economy at 52 mpg and 62 mpg when in all-electric mode. Coco is one of just 2,000 customers worldwide who have purchased the car. U.S. pricing starts at $102,000 for the basic model, with $112,000 for the top model.

The Scintas begin their new headliner residency at The D Hotel in Downtown.

Phoenix at Boulevard Pool at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas is canceled, and Tegan & Sara and Portugal the Man have taken their place.

Bestselling author Dennis Griffin, private eye Vito Colucci and legendary saxophonist Don Hill are among the guests of the Houdini book launch at The Italian American Club on East Sahara.
