In advance of signing her new two-year residency deal with Caesars Entertainment, singer Britney Spears had a jam-packed and whirlwind Las Vegas visit as the company’s guest, and the pop princess was chased up and down the Strip by persistent paparazzi.

Reliable sources indicated that the official contracts will be signed over the next two weeks. “She wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t a done deal,” I was told.

Britney flew in Friday with her new boyfriend David Lucado and checked into Caesars Palace. Sources would not confirm whether she was in the new Nobu hotel tower there or in the Octavius Tower presidential suites where such luminaries as President Obama and Oprah Winfrey have stayed.

First stop for Britney was Bellagio for Cirque du Soleil’s spectacular “One Night for One Drop” charity performance Friday night at “O” Theater. She slipped into her seats in the third row as the curtain went up and snuck out just as the curtain came down.

An invasion of paparazzi had been trying to snap Britney since she arrived at Bellagio. She was under a security detail that escorted her through hotel back passageways to give them the slip. She returned to Caesars for dinner with Caesars execs in the new Nobu Caesars Palace, where resident headliner Shania Twain also had dinner at a nearby separate table.

On Saturday, Britney’s management and production team met with Caesars execs and explored PH Live at their Planet Hollywood property. Vegas Deluxe posted the first exclusive news of Britney’s proposed residency on Jan. 10, and we followed that on March 15 with news that she would be here on the Strip this weekend.

Mid-afternoon, Britney and her entourage turned up at “Top Chef Seattle” chef Carla Pellegrino’s Meatball Spot in Town Square; our spywitness coincidentally was at Meatball Spot when Britney arrived and tweeted the sighting. She wore an orange crop top and sky-high, leopard-print Christian Louboutin stilettos.

Britney enjoyed the signature classic meatball sliders with mozzarella cheese, macaroni and cheese, Sprite and a bananas foster ice cream sandwich and sampled a birthday cake milkshake. Photographers swarmed the front entrance, but Britney and David escaped through a kitchen door to their SUV limousine.

On Saturday night, Britney was at The Colosseum at Caesars to watch Shania and again managed to sneak in unrecognized just as the curtain went up and depart just before the house lights came back on at the end. Britney was expected to see PH Live at one point during her visit and returns to L.A. later today.

Her run of 40 weekend shows over two years is not expected to start until next spring -- or this fall at the earliest. “Everything should be announced officially in a couple of weeks,” I was told. “Then Britney will be back, and there will be a real celebration.”
