Pop princess Britney Spears is in Las Vegas for her early morning “Good Morning America” live ABC satellite broadcast to New York. She’s expected to make official her upcoming PH Live at Planet Hollywood residency of 96 shows over two years that will pay her $15 million each year.

Confirmed as of 6:55 a.m.: Britney’s show, “Piece of Me,” begins Dec. 27 at PH Live in Planet Hollywood, and tickets go on sale this Friday (American Express cardholders, however, can purchase tickets now). It’s 96 shows over two years, with flexibility to tour in Europe and the possibility of a contract extension. Tickets for now will be made available starting Friday through Feb. 22.

Over the weekend, her new single, “Work B**ch,” premiered on satellite radio, local radio and iTunes in a massive marketing blitz that had been scheduled for 6 p.m. Monday but was rush released after a bad bootleg copy was leaked on the Internet.

The single, already at No. 2 on iTunes by Monday night, is the first from her new album “All Eyes on Me,” which some insiders believe will be the title of her residency show at Planet Hollywood that will reportedly kick off in December.

Shortly after midnight, some 1,300 Caesars Entertainment employees wearing “Welcome, Britney” T-shirts, anxious to help her party for the “GMA” appearance, were loaded into 27 buses to be taken to an unknown Mojave Desert destination (Jean?) an hour away from the Strip.

Wicked Whispers & Racy Rumors

Wicked Whispers & Racy Rumors here indicate that we’re headed into the Mojave Desert one hour away where Britney will fly in on a helicopter. TMZ is abuzz that Britney will perform her new single, “Work B**ch” and then reveal the Planet Hollywood residency details.

There also is wild guessing that the Red Bull daredevil parachute team will soar in during Britney’s satellite TV performance to add to the enthusiastic backdrop of extras — the 1,300 Caesars employees.

Adding up the costs of the elaborate stunts and facilities for Britney’s reveal, TMZ has estimated a $100,000 early morning, pre-dawn party in the dark.

I’m — at this moment — following in Bus #28! I have no idea where we are going or what we will see or what we will learn. Britney’s activities here are still shrouded in absolute secrecy and mystery — even at this middle-of-the-night, early morning hour.

I’m armed with laptop, tape recorder and sufficient mobile phones for the NSA to go into catatonic arrest. Keep clicking back to Vegas DeLuxe through the early morning hours as A&E Senior Editor Don Chareunsy updates my tweets and the big revelations.

Caesars officials are describing this event as “one of the largest announcements in Las Vegas entertainment history” and have set up their own satellite feed for 1 p.m. to make the news available to TV outlets around the world.

Even though no name yet at 3 a.m., it has to definitely be Britney. The truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth: It’s Britney!

You can follow me on Twitter @robin_leach, as well as read below. Meantime, our first exclusive story of her decision to stage a Las Vegas show was posted Jan. 10, and our story about what to expect later this morning was posted one week ago.

I think Britney’s showgirl photograph in her eye-popping, sparkling, cleavage-baring cutaway one-piece complete with blue boa says it all. Now “we just need the facts, Ma’am,” as “Dragnet’s” Joe Friday used to say.

If you are reading this in the Eastern Time zone, tune into “Good Morning America” with Sam Champion at 7 a.m. ET as he interviews Britney. We’ll try to let you know everything as fast as they’re hearing it in New York.

Updated at 4:52 a.m.: “Good Morning America” anchor Sam Champion told me: “Britney looks better than I’ve ever seen her. She sounds better than I’ve ever heard her. The rumors have been out for a long time. Today, all is revealed with two major announcements. America wants to hear it from her that she’s going to be in Las Vegas.

“Wherever I go, people say they’ve watched Britney since she grew up. We see an incredibly talented woman — a really bright light, a very sweet person in a very difficult business.

“A lot of children in this business don’t have a happy adulthood, so we’ve seen Britney through the headlines to the lovely woman and mother she is now today with incredible talent. America has been rooting for her to get through everything she went through.

“To stay an adult star and be on top. It’s that incredible success story. Britney starts as a child, becomes an incredible star and is now looking forward to this Las Vegas show with all the exuberance of somebody who loves a challenge and is ready to take it on.

“She’s the perfect Las Vegas headliner. The audience wants something different today. She is not going to stand in the spotlight and try to grab attention for a couple of hours. That doesn’t exist anymore. Britney, as she says, is really going to work it.

“She has the ability to sing, the ability to dance. It’s going to be an incredible show. And I like the idea that they’re shifting things to make it a real audience experience. She’s going to explain that a little more this morning.”

Stay tuned. And welcome to fabulous Las Vegas, Britney!
