What an honor for me to be inducted into the 2014 Nevada Broadcasters Hall of Fame as its first Mark Smith Ambassador Award recipient Saturday night at the Four Seasons Las Vegas gala. I was humbled by the kind words and outpouring of support from colleagues and friends.

The late DJ Casey Kasem’s daughter Kerry Kasem was there along with singer-actress Susan Anton, chefs from Wolfgang Puck’s restaurants, the newsroom team from Greenspun Media Group (Executive Editor Tom Gorman, Managing Editor Ric Anderson, Senior Editor, Local, John Taylor and my A+E colleagues Editor at Large John Katsilometes and Senior Editor, A+E, Don Chareunsy) and PR pals from Kirvin Doak Communications, Caesars Entertainment, One 7 Communications, R&R Partners and more.

The legendary Gladys Knight sent a personal greeting via Power Radio’s Craig Knight, who presented the beautiful Ambassador Award to me to kick off the evening. Congratulations to my friend Myron Martin, president and CEO of the Smith Center for the Performing Arts, who also was inducted into the NBA Hall of Fame on Saturday alongside more than 30 deserving others.

Thanks to everybody for the recognition and to Las Vegas Sun photographer Sam Morris for his great photo gallery of the memorable evening.

It was the same night that my friend Las Vegas boxer and MMA champion Ana Julaton was inducted into the Nevada Boxing Hall of Fame, so it was sadly impossible for the two of us to attend each other’s inductions.

Ana was seated between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Mike Tyson at her ceremony at the Tropicana, where she walked the red carpet with fellow inductees Evander Holyfield and Roberto Duran.

The beautiful and tough-as-nails Ana received the Dual Athlete Award for being the only two-sport combat athlete currently fighting in MMA and boxing at the highest level.

Congratulations, Ana!
