Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter, producer, engineer, arranger, DJ, rapper (under the stage name Haircut) and multi-instrumentalist Mayer Hawthorne brought his Motown-inspired singing to Vinyl on Saturday night in the Hard Rock Hotel Las Vegas.

Michigan-born Hawthorne, birth name Andrew Mayer Cohen, was dressed sharply in a blue-gray suit and an unbuttoned white dress shirt and minus his dark-rimmed eyeglasses.

His most recent album, “Where Does This Door Go,” was released last year, hence the white door behind Hawthorne and the band onstage.

Thanks to Erik Kabik of Retna for his retro black-and-white and color photo gallery at Vinyl.
