2013 Miss Nevada USA Pageant
The 20 gorgeous 2014 Miss Nevada USA Pageant contestants will be filmed this weekend during the tension and nerves of their competition by VH1 cameras for a new reality TV series starring their director, Shanna Moakler, and one of the judges, Nicole Murphy.
Nicole, who resumed her international modeling career at age 45, serves as executive producer of “Hollywood Exes.” She was married to movie star Eddie Murphy, and they have five children.
Shanna, who was marred to Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker, became Miss USA in 1995. They have two children from their four-year marriage, which ended in 2008.
One of the other judges also is a single mom, but with five children: Gretchen Polhemus, who made history when she became the fifth consecutive Miss Texas to win the Miss USA title in 1989.
I also am one of the judges alongside Zowie Bowie entertainer Chris Phillips, 2012 Miss Nevada USA Jade Kelsall and TV designer Faye Resnick. We spend Saturday in intensive interview sessions with the glamour girls.
Here’s an advance look at some of the pageant princesses as they get ready for transformations into beauty queens thanks to hairspray, mascara, lipstick and more makeup.
Pop and soul singer Brett Young will perform as the contestants are judged in swimsuit and evening gown segments, plus, the dreaded live onstage question. Las Vegas radio DJ Chet Buchanan and 2011 Miss USA Alyssa Campanella co-host the show at Artemus Ham Concert Hall at UNLV on Sunday.
2013 Miss Nevada USA Chelsea Caswell, who works at the Wynn for Steve Wynn’s F&B management team, and Miss Nevada Teen USA Amanda Jenkins will crown their successors. Fourteen teens are competing in that competition.
Prize packages for both include scholarships, cash, wardrobe attire, photo shoots and a modeling agency contract. The winner moves on to this year’s Miss USA Pageant on NBC.
There are rumors that Donald Trump’s parent Miss Universe Organization might move the broadcast back early to Las Vegas after original plans to hold it in Miami hit a roadblock. However, there is no official announcement yet from Miss USA President Paula Shugart.
We’ll have a timeline in our weekly Weekend Celebrity Preview, and then please check back here after the pageant for interviews, photos and videos.
