Editor’s Note: As Robin Leach enjoys family time in La Jolla, Calif., after returning to the United States from his annual Italian travels, many of our Strip personalities have stepped forward in his absence to pen their words of wisdom. We continue today with Planet Hollywood headliner magician Murray Sawchuck and actor/singer Rob Lyons of “Million Dollar Quartet” at Harrah’s. Here, though, is Shannon McCallum, Aria’s executive director of hotel operations:

Aria has redefined the concept of a resort destination on the Las Vegas Strip as the new standard in hotel luxury. We have created an exceptional hotel experience that includes a remarkable collection of dining and entertainment venues. Additionally, we are adjacent to the Shops at Crystals, an incredible retail destination that houses the top names in luxury goods and fashion.

As executive director of hotel operations at Aria, I have the pleasure of overseeing 20 departments that encompass key parts of a guest’s experience at the resort. It is my job to ensure that we are always thinking one step ahead of the guest so we can positively impact their stay from check-in to checkout.

Something special

As an award winning hotel-within-a-hotel, Aria Sky Suites offers an unparalleled stay from start to finish. Beginning with a seamless arrival, our staff starts by picking up guests in a limousine powered by compressed natural gas and delivering them to our exclusive Sky Suites porte-cochere, where a greeter escorts each guest to a private check-in lounge. This allows guests direct access to their suites without ever entering the casino.

And that is just the beginning! Sky Suites has some of the most unique features on the Strip such as floor-to-ceiling corner views in every suite, 24-hour Sky Suites concierge to assist with details throughout the guest stay, one-touch control of the lighting, room temperature, daily housekeeping and nightly turndown service and more.

Aria Sky Villas, located within Aria Sky Suites, offers the most discerning guests an exclusive experience unlike any other. In addition to extravagant amenities, each Sky Villa has its own dedicated butler. Our Sky Villa butlers have completed a highly specialized and extensive certified training program.

They are able to assist with a variety of special touches to make the guest’s vacation as relaxing as possible, such as unpacking and packing luggage, serving as bartender and shopping for evening attire at the Shops.

Reaching high standards

Aria is home to two AAA Five Diamond Awards, one for Aria and one for Aria Sky Suites. Additionally, this year we also were awarded the Forbes Five-Star for Sky Suites for the third year in a row. These awards are a testament to our team members who provide amazing service to guests as they pay careful attention to every detail of their stay.

At Sky Suites, service and consistency are at the core of our Forbes Five-Star experience. Every employee is held to the highest standard when it comes to offering an impeccable guest experience. We want to make sure that each person entering our doors receives top-notch service, regardless of what they may be doing during they stay.

For example, when you make a reservation at Sky Suites, a concierge will call you 72 hours before you arrive to check-in and help with any requests or last-minute plans. Depending on your needs, this could result in us making restaurant reservations, assisting with additional room amenities and more.

Ever-Evolving

We are continuously looking for ways to improve our visitors’ experience. Whether that means ensuring that a Sky Suites guest’s favorite beverage is stocked in their refrigerator or that we remember special anniversaries and birthdays, we’re always on the lookout for those touches that will elevate their experience.

Most recently, we opened Sky Pool, a private retreat specially designed for Sky Suites guests. This pool offers services such as private guest entrance, complimentary refreshments and amenities including iced teas, chilled towels, smoothie shots and more passed around every 90 minutes.
