It had to happen! The applause was too raucous. British comedian and magician John van der Put, who is better known by his stage name Piff the Magic Dragon, has landed his own Strip variety show.

And he’ll have as his co-star Mr. Piffles, the “world’s first magic performing Chihuahua.” Expect to hear the official announcement any day now that he will star in Bugsy’s Cabaret theater at Flamingo Las Vegas, where “X Burlesque” adult cabaret sizzles nightly in a later time slot.

The 35-year-old London entertainer who now lives here first hit the Sin City scene with his appearances in the now-shuttered “Vegas Nocturne” at Rose. Rabbit. Lie. in the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas. He went on to appear in the recent Season 10 of NBC’s “America’s Got Talent.”

Judges Heidi Klum, Mel B, Howie Mandel and Howard Stern were unanimous in voting him through auditions, judges’ cuts, quarterfinals and finals week. He made it through to the finale where he performed a magic trick with Penn & Teller, but he didn’t receive enough votes to reach the Top Five.

He was eliminated but promptly signed on for “America’s Got Talent Live,” which had three performances at Planet Hollywood Showroom last Thursday through Saturday evenings.

Piff, who has more than 12 million YouTube views, has performed his solo show five times at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and two sold-out seasons in London’s West End.

Angela and Matt Stabile, who run the “X” brand of topless and comedy shows at Flamingo and Rio and launch “X Country” at Harrah’s on Nov. 22, will produce Piff’s show.

Piff will headline for at least three shows midweek in an open-ended run, permitting him to fulfill previously scheduled corporate engagements and other weekend events.
