Our 2014 Miss Nevada Pageant queen Ellie Smith of Henderson has landed a one-year contract from Disney to play the three lead roles of Ariel, Snow White and Rapunzel in the company’s Dream Boat Cruise Musical Spectacular sailing from Orlando, Fla.

Ellie leaves for rehearsals in Toronto in June, then it’s away on the high seas of Florida until next March. Ellie returns to BYU in the fall of 2017. Ellie, 19, won the non-finalist Talent Award at the 2014 Miss America Pageant in Atlantic City representing our Silver State.

Ellie has just finished her sophomore year at BYU in the music and dance theater department where she is a member of the elite performance group Young Ambassadors. They left for a three-week tour of South Africa over the weekend. During her two years at BYU, she has starred as Helen in “Troy” and Amalia in “She Loves Me.”

Broadway and TV star Kristin Chenoweth invited her to sing at her March 12 concert in front of 3,000 fans at her concert in Segerstrom Center for the Arts in Costa Mesa, Calif. They performed “For Good,” a duet from “Wicked” with Kristin as Glinda and Ellie as Elphaba.

In early June before flying to Canada, Ellie will sing the national anthem at Dodgers Stadium for the 11th consecutive season. Her first time was when she was just 9 years old.

Congratulations on all the achievements — that’s quite the career you’ve got ahead of you!
