Two people suffered serious burns today in a house fire north of downtown Las Vegas, according to Las Vegas Fire & Rescue officials.

A third person suffered cuts to their legs when occupants pulled them out of the house, officials said.

The burn victims were taken to University Medical Center, officials said.

The fire was reported about 10:20 a.m. today in the 400 block of Leonard Avenue, near Owens Avenue and D Street, officials said.

The cause of the blaze, which appeared to have started in the living room, was under investigation, officials said.

Damage was estimated at $100,000, officials said.

In a separate blaze, four Metro Police officers suffered minor smoke inhalation as they helped evacuate a central valley extended-stay hotel in the central valley, the fire department said.

The officers, one of whom passed out, were expected to be OK, fire department spokesman Tim Szymanski said. They also suffered some cuts and scrapes, he said.

No other injures were reported.

The fire, contained to a single third-floor room, was reported at 10:45 a.m. in the 700 block of Bonanza Road, near Las Vegas Boulevard North, Szymanski said. The roof might also need repair, displacing several residents, he said.
