Beginning this week, Allegiant Air will hand out health and safety kits to passengers as they board flights, according to a news release issued today.
The Las Vegas-based discount air carrier will provide kits that include a single-use face mask, a pair of disposable gloves and cleaning wipes.
Allegiant will encourage but not require passengers to use the personal protective equipment, officials said.
The announcement is just the latest from the airline industry as it continues to focus on safety measures in response to the drastic slowing of passenger traffic in the wake of the COVID-19 crisis.
On Sunday, Spirit Airlines announced all passengers would be required to wear masks or face coverings beginning May 11.
