Henderson Chief of Police Thedrick Andres speaks during a press conference as Sgt. Roger Matuszak stands by at Henderson City Hall Wednesday, March 9, 2022. Andres is planning to retire from his position at the end of February, Henderson police said in a statement.

Henderson Police Chief Thedrick Andres will retire next month, city spokesperson Kathleen Richards confirmed in an email.

Andres, who has served as police chief of Henderson since July 2019, announced his retirement Thursday. He will officially depart Feb. 28, Richards said. Deputy Chief Michael Blow will lead the department in the interim until the city selects a replacement for Andres, Richards added.

“The city congratulates Chief Andres on his retirement following a distinguished 30-year career in law enforcement,” Richards said in a statement.

In his nearly four years as head of Henderson Police, Andres has established the Henderson Police Cadet Academy, constructed a new west substation and broke ground on a new forensic crime laboratory, Richards said.

Andres’ retirement announcement comes just months after a no-confidence vote in the police chief from two local police unions, the Henderson Police Officers Association and Henderson Police Supervisors Association, was reported in November.
