Teenager riding scooter killed in incident with U-Haul truck in Henderson

A 17-year-old was killed Friday morning in an incident involving a U-Haul driver suspected of impairment, according to a Henderson Police Department release. 

The female pedestrian was traveling in a bike lane on an electric scooter northbound on Pecos Road at about 10:27 a.m. The driver was turning southbound onto Pecos from Sun shadow Avenue when they pulled in front of the teenager, the release stated.

The teenager slid under the U-Haul, causing injuries she later succumbed to at Sunrise Trauma. 

Impairment of the driver is suspected but not yet determined, the release states. The driver did stay at the scene and cooperated with the investigation.
