IndyCar vs. NASCAR

The people at IndyCar may think that Danica Patrick’s recent success will help the series compete in the ratings with NASCAR, but that would be like saying a Toyota Prius can keep up with a Ferrari.

Last week’s Nielsen rating for Sunday’s Runner Turbo Indy 300 averaged a .74 rating. Although this is an increase over last year’s race, it pales in comparison to Sunday’s Aaron’s 499 Sprint Cup Race at Talladega that received a 5.2 rating, which was also an increase over last year’s race. That means the Cup race reached an 11 percent market share in the nation’s largest television markets. It was the most watched sporting event televised last weekend.

Below are links to videos of drivers discussing the upcoming race and Richmond and other racing issues.
