Greg Biffle to take off-road detour before the Phoenix race (2nd Update 10:30 AM)

Raptor video

Roush Fenway Racing driver Greg Biffle will be taking a detour to the Las Vegas desert on his way to the Sprint Cup race in Phoenix on April 18. No he’s not coming here to hit the blackjack tables or see Wayne Newton. Instead, he’s headed to the California/Nevada state line to drive the Ford F-150 Raptor.

Biffle had initially been slated to drive in the Fun Run at Prim, but that event has been canceled. The latest information is that Biffle will be driving the truck during a test session on Thursday, but that test will not be in a location that allows for spectator access. Sorry for the confusion, but the situation has been changing.

The Raptor is a serious off-road vehicle that will be the nearest thing to a professional off-road racing truck that can be used as a daily driver. It will be powered by a 320 horsepower 5.4-liter V8. A 6.2-liter V8 will be available after the vehicle launch. If you’re into a small carbon footprint, then this isn’t the vehicle for you. But racing fans will be interested in hearing Biffle’s comments on the capabilities of this truck.
