NASCAR fans not in a joking mood

NASCAR fans fired up their search engines Wednesday to find out if Car and Driver's story headlined: "Obama Orders Chevrolet and Dodge Out Of NASCAR" was, in fact, real.

To their relief, but apparently not their senses of humor, the Web site report was indeed false. The magazine was just having a little fun on April Fool's Day saying the President decided to pull the two major motor companies out of the sport if they wanted to keep their federal funding. Despite a note in the story's body of text that stated the post was a hoax, enough people raised a fuss to prompt the magazine to eventually removed the fake story from its site, saying the joke had gone "too far."

It seems the British press had even more fun with their cheeky April Fools Day antics.
