Chaparral’s Morgan accepts invite to walk-on at UNLV

Chaparral's Jeff Morgan always knew he could play college football.

Now, the 6-foot-3, 285-pound offensive lineman will get the chance to prove he belongs at the next level.

Despite starting four years at Chaparral, Morgan only had one offer to play for a Division I school — a preferred walk-on offer from UNLV.

Morgan accepted the invitation and plans on making the most of the opportunity.

"I love it there," Morgan said. "I like how positive (the coaches) are and that UNLV is a program on the rise."

Morgan started both ways for Chaparral in 2008 and has the potential to be a contributor at UNLV, former Chaparral coach Fernando Carmona said. Carmona stepped down after the season.

"He is just a very solid kid," Carmona said. "I think he can develop into a scholarship player."
