Prep Sports Now: Arbor View or Desert Pines?
For schools located in opposite parts of Las Vegas, the Arbor View and Desert Pines football programs have shared the spotlight many times over the years. It will happen again on Friday night with the Jaguars heading to Arbor View in a showdown of class 5A powers. Desert Pines’ speed vs. Arbor View’s power, and a ton of talent on each side. We preview the game and more on another edition of Prep Sports Now.
The fifth week of the high school football season in Las Vegas should feature some close results.
Arbor View hosts Desert Pines, Silverado and Coronado battle in the class 4A, and the Cleat Game between Eldorado and host Chaparral each appear to be evenly matched.
The predictions column went 13-0 last week and sits at 40-9 overall on the season. Let’s keep the momentum going.
Desert Pines at Arbor View
Arbor View wins this game with its linemen in the trenches. Arbor View 28, Desert Pines 23
Bishop Gorman at Hamilton (Ariz.)
Another nationally ranked opponent, another win for the Gaels. Gorman 40, Hamilton 20
Las Vegas at Rancho
As they say at Las Vegas, “The Bone stays home.” Las Vegas 43, Rancho 7
Eldorado at Chaparral
Great call by the Clark County School District to keep the Cleat Game on the schedule after it was initially canceled because of a positive COVID test. Chaparral 20, Eldorado 13
Legacy at Liberty
Liberty takes out its frustrations on Legacy. Liberty 50, Legacy 0

A step up in competition is not kind to the Wolves. Palo Verde 23, Basic 16
Sunrise Mountain at Bonanza
The Bonanza defense surrenders nearly 50 points per game. Sunrise Mountain 38, Bonanza 30
Virgin Valley at Boulder City
I wouldn’t be surprised if Virgin Valley won the class 3A state title. Virgin Valley 39, Boulder City 12.
Pahrump at Moapa Valley
I also wouldn’t be surprised if Moapa Valley was the champion. Moapa Valley 41, Pahrump 6

Cheyenne at Durango
Don’t leave Durango out of the conversation for best teams in the class 4A. Durango 37, Cheyenne 12

Here’s an open invitation to join me on the Skyhawks bandwagon. Silverado 33, Coronado 16
Mojave at Del Sol
