The defending 5A state champion Bishop Gorman football team outscored Las Vegas opponents 335-0 in five games during the regular season.
Defending 4A state champion Silverado has given up just 23 points on the season.
Reigning 3A champion Moapa Valley hasn’t lost in the last two seasons.
When the playoffs begin Thursday — there are no games Friday because that’s when Nevada Day is observed — it should come as no surprise that the trio of programs are expected to make a deep run. And Gorman and Silverado could win every game by the mercy rule of a running clock.
Like the teams gearing up for a memorable postseason, the picks column is also hitting its stride. It went undefeated last week at 16-0, brining the season record to 147-22.
