The high school football picks column hit a snag last week, posting an 11-5 record.

The biggest surprise? Boulder City.

The Eagles traveled to Mesquite and earned a hard fought 8-6 victory to remain in the thick of the class 3A standings. The parity in the 3A is amazing, as Boulder City only lost to defending state champion Moapa Valley 26-22 earlier in the season.

And Moapa Valley barely beat Pahrump last week 7-6 after stopping a 2-point conversion in the second half. Another close game is expected this week when Boulder City travels to Pahrump.

We’ll take a look at that game and others, looking to build on a 73-13 overall record for the season.
