A collection of notes from an hour spent today at the Michael Jordan Celebrity Invitational Golf Tournament at Shadow Creek, blasted out in our rarely enacted Single Paragraph Format:

Jordan nearly recorded a hole-in-one on the water-protected, 164-yard Par 3 17th hole, winding up putting in for birdie. Any player who aces that hole Saturday wins a Lamborghini. A new one, presumably. … Today is the 30th anniversary of when Jordan sank the jumper to lead North Carolina past Georgetown 63-62 for the 1982 NCAA Basketball title. How many points did Jordan score in that game (answer at the end of the column)? ... All of last year’s parties have been condensed into one massive event set for Friday night at an Aria ballroom. If you try to get in without a proper invitation, you will either be flogged or given a name tag and a dishcloth and put to work (#SheckyKats). … Seated at the same table in the clubhouse: legendary pass-rusher Richard Dent and legendary base-stealer Vince Coleman. … There was a refreshing absence of high winds on the course for the first round of the celebrity-amateur tournament. … Vinnie the Barber from Aria is providing one of the tournament’s great perks: complimentary haircuts and shaves for all entrants. … Letting their games do the talking: Jordan, Brett Hull, Mario Lemieux, Roger Clemens, among others. … Three Vegas celebs who would have done nothing but enliven the tournament: Carrot Top, Holly Madison and Frank Marino. … Signs posted near the clubhouse dissuade professional autograph hounds from doing business at Shadow Creek, and there seemed less fan clustering on the first day this year than last year. … Answer to the Jordan-UNC question: Jordan scored 16 points in the Tar Heels’ victory.
