Worker killed at downtown construction site is identified

A construction worker who died at the downtown Union Park redevelopment site on Monday has been identified as 49-year-old Angel Orocco-Pio, the Clark County Coroner's Office said.

The coroner's office said today that it hasn't determined the cause of Orocco-Pio's death.

Las Vegas Dept. firefighters arrived at the site near Grand Central Parkway and Bonneville Avenue about 7:45 a.m. Monday after a call about someone injured, Las Vegas Fire Dept. spokesman Tim Szymanski said.

Orocco-Pio, who had been working near a concrete pipe in the middle of the 61 acre property, was dead at the scene, Szymanski said.

The investigation into the worker's death is ongoing by the Nevada Occupational Safety and Health Administration.

A former railroad yard, Union Park covers 61 acres between the downtown Las Vegas casinos and the World Market Center. Among the many buildings planned for the site are the Lou Ruvo Brain Institute, the Smith Center for the Performing Arts and the World Diamond Center.

  1. You havn't seen nothin yet. When the workers become 100% illegals it will get worse. And guess who will pay the cost for their medical?
