51s club four home runs in victory

Jason Lane hit a pair of home runs Thursday night and the Las Vegas 51s matched their highest output of the year in a 14-4 victory at the Colorado Springs Sky Sox to open a four-game series.

Lane went 5-for-5 with three runs scored and six RBIs. His bases-clearing double in the first inning gave the 51s (24-26) a 3-0 lead.

Lane and Buck Coats each hit home runs in the third inning to help open an 8-4 lead. Lane added a two-run home run in the eighth inning, which followed a Randy Ruiz solo shot.

Shortstop Russ Adams added a 3-for-4 performance with three runs scored for Las Vegas, which won for the third time in its last four games.

Fabio Castro gave up four runs and five hits in six innings for the win.

The series continues at 6:05 p.m. Friday.
