Here’s the latest installment of the Play of the Day, which uses odds from the South Point.. Our three sports writers started with a $10,000 bankroll — fictional, of course.
Oakland A’s (-130) at Houston Astros: $520 to win $400: Houston’s Sunday starter Collin McHugh was awesome Tuesday after being promoted from Triple-A, striking out 12 against Seattle. I highly doubt he can be this dominating twice in the same week. It’s Collin McHugh, after all. Not Astros legend Nolan Ryan.
The Astros are one of baseball's worst teams. Oakland is one of its best. Yet, Houston somehow beat Oakland on Saturday for just its eighth win in 25 games this season. There’s no way the A’s drop consecutive games to the Astros.
Oddsmakers overcompensated for McHugh’s 12-strikeout performance when setting this line. Take advantage of the favorable line for an easy winner.
Standings: Bern (21-16, $10,600), Keefer (18-19, $9,708), Brewer (14-19-3, $6,615)
