Vegas Play of the Day: Miami Heat at Indiana Pacers

Here’s the latest installment of the Play of the Day, which uses odds from the South Point. Our three sports writers started with a $10,000 bankroll — fictional, of course.

Miami Heat at Indiana Pacers over 185: $550 to win $500

I’m not surprised the Pacers won Game 1, because if you haven’t learned that predicting Indiana’s tendencies is as useless as arguing physics with a tortoise, then you haven’t been paying attention.

With that said, this certainly feels like a bounce-back spot for the Heat. Maybe they underestimated the Pacers or maybe Miami wasn’t really at playoff speed yet because of its relatively easy series wins or maybe Indiana just went out and won the game. Whatever it was, it’s going to return to the mean tonight. It has to.

And yet, that’s not where I’m going with the Play of the Day. Even in defeat, Miami was able to score 97. And while Indiana isn’t likely to shoot as well as Game 1, I think the Pacers can keep it close enough to that pace that Game 2 should sail over.

Miami has gone over in six of its last seven games and eight of the last 10. That trend’s going to continue tonight.
