Vegas Play of the Day: Arizona State at New Mexico

Here’s the latest installment of the Play of the Day, which uses odds from the South Point. Our three sports writers started with a $10,000 bankroll — fictional, of course.

Arizona State minus-24 at the New Mexico: $550 to win $500 I hate having to win by more than three touchdowns on the road to cover the point spread, but it’s not that big of a risk considering the matchup. Arizona State is significantly better than New Mexico — in every facet of the game. New Mexico has no passing attack, meaning it will rely on running plays to beat Arizona State. I know little about either team’s personnel on the lines, but it’s safe to assume Arizona State’s players are bigger, stronger and faster.

New Mexico may be able to keep the game respectable early, but by time the second half rolls around, don’t be surprised if Arizona State pulls away.

While my record is awful in this contest, I’ve won my last three wagers. And I’m perfect on college football.

Standings: Bern (45-33-1, $13,827), Keefer (39-42, $9,912), Brewer (32-44-3, $2,700)
