Vegas Play of the Day: Mets at Phillies

We've reset the Play of the Day with fresh bankrolls and turned it into a yearly competition. Our three sports writers have re-started with $10,000 bankrolls to continue using on odds from the South Point.

New York Mets minus-125 on run line vs. Philadelphia Phillies: $500 to win $400:: The Mets are one of the hottest offensive teams in baseball in the past week, scoring 16, 14 and 14 runs in three of their last four games. Last night, they smashed eight home runs.

The trend will continue tonight against Philadelphia starter Jerome Williams, who walked four and surrendered eight earned runs in failing to make it out of the second inning in his last start. Williams has a 6.10 earned run average on the season, opening the door for a risky run line bet — you have to win by two or more runs — to look attractive.

The Mets counter with Noah Syndergaard who has been brilliant since his promotion from the Triple-A Las Vegas 51s. He has 117 strikeouts in 110 innings pitched, whereas Williams has just 60 in 100 innings pitched.

Current Standings: (as of July 1): Brewer (10-7, $10,940), Bern (6-6, $10,250), Keefer (7-13, $6,486)

Lifetime Records: 2014-15 champion Bern (89-80-1), Keefer (91-96-2), Brewer (80-95-2)
