Vegas Play of the Day: Washington at Baltimore

We've reset the Play of the Day with fresh bankrolls and turned it into a yearly competition. Our three sports writers have re-started with $10,000 bankrolls to continue using on odds from the South Point.

Washington Nationals at Baltimore Orioles, Total Under 8 Runs (minus-110): $440 to win $400:: It’s the last game before most baseball players receive a four-day break for the all-star break. I expect quickly played games in ballparks all over the Major Leagues today, especially in Baltimore where Washington ace Max Scherzer been impossible to hit the past month.

Scherzer enters with a 2.12 earned run average. In back to back starts three weeks ago, he pitched a no-hitter and a complete game shutout. Then, he his next two starts, he pitched eight innings, allowing two runs in each appearance.

Baltimore counters with Wei-Yin Chen, a left-handed pitcher would will be a matchup problem for lefty hitting Bryce Harper. Washington has lost most of its key batters to injury and Harper could be considered their lone source of offense.

All indications point to the under and a 3-1 final score.
