Vegas Play of the Day: Tampa Bay Rays at Seattle Mariners

Here’s the latest installment of the Play of the Day, which uses odds from the South Point. Our three sports writers started with a $10,000 bankroll — fictional, of course.

Tampa Bay Rays minus-105 at Seattle Mariners: $315 to win $300

If Rays pitcher Jake Odorizzi ever gets some consistent run support, he’ll have a win-loss record more befitting of his pitching this season, including a 1.01 WHIP and a 2.61 ERA.

Odorizzi has allowed only one earned run in three of his last six starts and two of those were losses. Tampa Bay also lost when Odorizzi allowed two runs and three runs in consecutive starts, leaving him at 4-5 this season.

Backing Tampa Bay requires faith in an offense that ranks fourth to the bottom of the American League in runs scored, but that’s what I’m going with tonight.
