Vegas Play of the Day: Red Sox at Blue Jays

Here’s the latest installment of the Play of the Day, which uses odds from the South Point. Our three sports writers started with a $10,000 bankroll — fictional, of course.

Toronto Blue Jays minus-125 vs. Boston Red Sox : $575 to win $500 Boston starter Joe Kelly has been awful in his past three starts, surrendering five earned runs in each outing to help balloon his earned run average to 5.92 on the season. He’s one of the main reasons why the Red Sox fired their pitching coach this week.

Toronto, which leads baseball in runs scored, has already hit Kelly hard this season. On April 27, the Blue Jays ended just five innings to chase Kelly from the game in a 6-5 victory.

I favor home teams in Saturday afternoon games during the baseball season because larger weekend crowds create a distinct home field advantage. With Kelly on the hill for Boston, those Toronto fans will have much to cheer about.
