Vegas Play of the Day: Wichita State at Tulsa

We've reset the Play of the Day with fresh bankrolls and turned it into a yearly competition. Our three sports writers have re-started with $10,000 bankrolls to continue using on odds from the South Point.

Tulsa plus-4 vs. Wichita State, $330 to win $300: This is a chance for Tulsa to make a statement against a top-ranked team. The Hurricanes return nine players from last season’s squad, including all five starters, and have the athleticism to pull off the upset against No. 9 Wichita State.

While Wichita State is arguably the best mid-major conference school in the nation, they won’t be at full strength. Senior guard Fred VanVleet was limited in their season opener with a hamstring injury, meaning he’ll be slowed in trying to contain the speed in Tulsa’s backcourt.

Just 3,389 attended Tulsa’s season opener last week, forcing coach Frank Haith to issue a plea to fans to attend today’s game. That shows Tulsa is treating this much more than an early-season tilt. It’s a chance to make a splash nationally.

Current Standings (as of July 1): Brewer (21-18, $10,290), Bern (14-21, $7,455), Keefer (16-28-2, $5,371)

Lifetime standings: 2014-15 Champion Bern (95-94-1), Keefer (100-112-4), Brewer (90-105-2)
