Vegas Play of the Day: Twins at Rays

We’ve entered the third season of the annual South Point-lined Play of the Day competition, effective July 1.

Starting bankrolls have reset to $10,000, with the maximum bet being to win $1,000 and the minimum wager $300. Ray Brewer won the 2015-2016 season, after Taylor Bern prevailed in 2014-2015.

Minnesota Twins plus-130 at Tampa Ray: $400 to win $520: Tampa and Minnesota are each playing out the schedule in the final two months of the season, meaning either team can win today’s series finale. There’s no predicting which team will come ready to play and which team is still recovering from a Saturday night out of the town. I’ll take the team receiving plus-money on a strong value play.

Tampa starter Matt Andriese is a converted reliever making just his second start of the season. He’s only pitched more than four innings once, meaning the game will quickly be turned over to the Rays bullpen. The bullpen ranks 26th in baseball with a 4.48 earned run average.

While Minnesota is 22 games under .500, it has played better of late. Earlier this week, it swept a three-game series at Cleveland — many expect Cleveland to represent the American League in the World Series. Minnesota’s Brian Dozier has hit five home runs in the last seven days to lead the charge.

Current Standings: Keefer (5-4, $10,120), Brewer (3-5, $9,375), Bern (2-5, $8,830)
